Job Description:

The Installer shall have  the ability to assist in furniture repair when needed.  Loads, stores, moves, packs, places furniture according to plan, and assembles furniture.  When needed can perform minor furniture repair and stabilization.   Establishes the operational conditions of each item to be repaired or restored.  Has a general understanding of systems furniture and installation techniques.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform repair, maintenance, installation, and disassembly of systems furniture and case good furniture (Unicor, Teknion, Kimball, Steelcase) products to include proper inventory, palletizing, and sorting parts and components for warehouse storage and retrieval.
  • Under the supervision of the Onsite Installer (Sr), provides support in the project completion of assigned furniture outcomes associated with construction projects.
  • Under the supervision of the Onsite Installer (Sr), interfaces with construction project managers, IT cable installers, facilities trades, and agency clients to define furniture project requirements.
  • Able to manage the furniture reconfiguration of a small to medium size single-faceted project.
  • Assist the Onsite Installer (Sr) and the Systems Furniture Technician in eliciting, evaluating, integrating, and coordinating furniture information between the requestors and the program.
  • Assist the Onsite Installer (Sr) and the Systems Furniture Technician in the review of proposed designs and layouts for suitability and identify potential issues.
  • Assist the Onsite Installer (Sr) and the Systems Furniture Technician with cleaning furniture and furniture fabric for the product(s) prior to and/or after installation.

Qualifications/experience needed:

  • Associate Degree in Building Trade Technology or other related applied technologies. In lieu of a degree High School Diploma with an emphasis on mechanical skills and four (4) years experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in moving/packing, storing, loading, and installing customers’ furniture. • Proficient in reading and interpreting interior design drawings and furniture drawings. • Excellent communication (verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with Project Managers, team leaders, subcontractors, and Government Customers.
